EXT. STUDIO – DAY
I could tell things had reached a fevered pitch when I arrived for auditions Sunday morning. Auditions were to begin at 8:00. I arrived at 7:00 and there was a line. As I fumbled with the lock on the studio door I asked a few of the hopefuls if they were ready for the casting session. Most said they were, nervous, but ready.

E.P. Dan, Head Scriptwriter Danielle, P.A. Bri, and P.A. Bobby arrived and we got setup for round 2. We were ahead of the game and ready to go by 7:40am so we relaxed a bit, preparing mentally for the oncoming storm. At 8:00 straight the doors opened and the race was on. We saw stacks of people and stacks of headshots. On and on until we broke for lunch. The day seemed to be both dragging by and speeding past us.

Lunch. We discussed who we liked, who we didn’t think was right, and who was coming in for callbacks later that afternoon. We started putting some of the actors on the short list. But lunch was coming to a close and we had another two hours of casting before we saw the callbacks.

Saw a few good ones after lunch. One made it on the callback list for later.

Time for the callbacks. You really get to see the flow of a script when you see a talented group of actors perform. At the end of casting (I’ve stopped saying “at the end of the day”. After it’s over usage, it really irks the crap out of me.) we put our heads together and started on the short-short list.
We really saw a lot of talented people, but now comes the time to make the hard decisions. So, as the director, I would like to thank everyone that auditioned. Not everyone will be cast and that’s just how the game works. If we don’t pick you, it doesn’t mean we didn’t like your performance, it means that you weren’t right for the part. Anyway, I hope to post some of the decisions later this week.
